Being vegan costs an extra £2000 a year
There’s been a sharp rise in veganism over the past year but new research has shown that it comes at a price. We’re talking a financial one – not the emotional cost of giving up meat, dairy and pretty much everything else.
VoucherCodesPro found that opting for healthier ingredients (including specific diets such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free) will cost you an extra £2000 a year. That means you’ll be spending £162 a month more than the average meat-eating ‘unhealthy’ person.
It’s pretty clear why this is with supermarkets and restaurants charging more money for specialist options along with the potential need to buy expensive supplements.
Hopefully, the growing number of people opting for specialist diets will encourage retailers to produce and sell cheaper ingredients.
