If you've found yourself inexplicably drawn to clothes, accessories and hair styles festooned with girlish bows of late, then you have Prada's AW24 show to thank. Earlier this year, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons sent models down the runway during Milan Fashion Week in a standout collection that featured feminine ribbons front and centre, whether tied around waists, embroidered into knitwear, peeking out of trousers, or, most memorably, scattered all over the brand's signature shift dresses.

Indeed, the bow-covered Sablé dress was the show's opening look, and appeared on the catwalk a number of times – and in various iterations – throughout, cementing its status as the must-have of the season. It was only natural, then, that ELLE shoot its most recent cover star Letitia Wright wearing this very piece.

In a bold royal purple colourway embellished with tone-on-tone satin bows, Prada's Sablé shift took centre stage during the 30-year-old actor's cover shoot for ELLE UK's November issue – and rightly so.

A luxury fashion house that prides itself on impeccable craftsmanship, Prada employed countless hours and complex techniques to give the piece movement and shape, from cutting, tying and embroidering each of the 35 bows by hand, to steam pressing and drying the garment for a more worn effect.

A grand total of 50 metres of ribbon was used in the crafting of each Sablé dress, with 13 hours dedicated to the embroidery alone. Little wonder the piece has such star quality.
