Bandages or cycling shorts? Internet is totally confused by flesh coloured trousers
Words by Francesca Specter.
Instagram users are scratching their heads over a seriously bizarre pair of leather trousers.
We’ve seen some hilarious examples of expectation not quite meeting reality with internet retailers – recently a woman’s cut-out dress mishap went viral – but this look proved seriously confusing.
The trousers, sold by Pretty Little Thing for £30, are listed on the website as “Taupe faux leather colour block trousers”. While the pants are actually full length, the taupe patches resemble risque cut-outs leaving people unsure how much flesh is being shown off.
Things got even more weird when the retailer posted a picture to Instagram of model Leslie Sidora styling the trousers.

Unlike the model wearing the trousers on the website, Leslie’s skin is exactly the same colour as the taupe patches – resulting in one serious optical illusion which drove followers crazy.
One wrote: “Yoo i thought she was wearing half pants,” while another added: “Oh dear, those trousers are horrendous”.
Others thought the trousers looked like a medical device, with one saying they “look like bandages”, and another questioning: “Prosthetic legs or pants???”.
Another person just totally did not get the point, writing “Why even wear pants at all?” – which is fair enough.
Despite the long thread full of confused comments, some Instagram users claimed to love the trousers.
One Instagram user wrote: “I NEED THESE PANTS”, plus a heart-eyes emoji, while another wrote: “Love those pants”. What’s more, several sizes are either sold out or selling out on the website – proving they definitely have a cult appeal.
Fancy a pair for yourself? The website recommends styling these trousers with “barely-there heels” and a bralet, assumedly to add to the mind-boggling effect.
Just maybe don’t wear them to work – otherwise you might be getting some seriously odd looks.
