Amy Schumer calls out Ivanka Trump about family separations in 'Dear Ivanka' post

Ivanka Trump‘s Instagram feed is getting pretty intense.

The first daughter and White House adviser is once again being called out by celebrities and influencers she follows on Instagram in a series of “Dear Ivanka” posts. Originally started by Girlboss co-founder and CEO Sophia Amoruso in November, the campaign has seen the likes of Cara Delevingne and Olivia Wilde use their access to Trump’s eyeballs to push for reform.

This time around, Amoruso has recruited Amy Schumer and Alexa Chung — both of whom count President Trump‘s older daughter as an Instagram follower — to call on her to help end the “racist, inhumane, and unconscionable abuses” stemming from family separations. Specifically, they want her to demand that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resign.

As the letter notes, Trump recently called the separation of migrant children from their parents “a low point.” But that’s not enough, Schumer, Chung, and Amoruso say.

“You spoke in past tense,” they tell Trump. “The crisis is still ongoing.”

Many fans have cheered the stars for using their influence to get Trump’s attention — “way to go, sister!” read one message — but there’s been backlash too. Some of the negative comments accused the women of wading into debates they somehow aren’t qualified to discuss, while others insisted that it’s Schumer and company, not the Trumps, who should be doing more.

“You’re just another celebrity and nobody cares about your opinion,” one of Schumer’s followers responded. “Why don’t you do something about it, since you think you have the right to comment on things that occur in the real world? Go back to your penthouse and play with your Barbies! Matter of fact, I’ll be unfollowing you. Not sure why I’ve been following you at all.”

“You should all donate some of your handbags or give up some new clothes [and] makeup … to those poor families,” a commenter told Chung. “Then you all can help them in they’re [sic] own country instead putting the bill on @realdonaldtrump or @ivankatrump.”

Schumer fired back at one critic, who blamed the children’s parents for the controversial detentions. The comedian’s response: “You stink.”

For now, Trump still follows all three women’s accounts. Perhaps she didn’t inherit her dad’s blocking strategy?
