Virgil van Dijk blow confirmed amid Liverpool injury return ahead of Tottenham

Liverpool will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Tottenham on Sunday. With Spurs having lost to Chelsea on Thursday, the Reds' Champions League qualification for next season is now guaranteed as Jürgen Klopp prepares for his final three games in charge.

What's happened?

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has revealed Virgil van Dijk is a doubt for Sunday's game against Tottenham after missing training this week. The Reds captain could be involved in training later today, although Klopp admitted it would only be 'parts' of the session, bringing his involvement this weekend into doubt.

Meanwhile, Conor Bradley has been back in training following his recent injury. Diogo Jota though is not yet ready to make his return.

Klopp also insisted that the argument that took place between himself and Mohamed Salah at West Ham last weekend is 'resolved', branding the incident a 'non-story'.

What's been said?

"Diogo is not in team training yet, Conor is," Klopp explained in his press conference.

"Virgil wasn’t. Probably in parts of team training today, so we have to see what we can do there."

Speaking about last week's argument with Salah, Klopp said: "It’s completely resolved. It’s no problem. If we didn’t know each other for that long, I’m not sure how we would deal with it, but we’ve known each other for that long and we respect each other too much that it’s really no problem.

"I think we have the right to deal with these expectations completely independent of any expectations from the outside, so we are fine with it, it’s a non-story."

What does it mean?

Being without Van Dijk would be a big blow for Liverpool. Considering he hasn't been in training this week, and may only play a small part in the session later today, you'd have to imagine he won't feature on Sunday, or at best will be named on the bench.

Considering Champions League qualification is now assured though, his absence could have come at a much worse time. The title is almost certainly out of reach now, leaving just third place to play for, and a point should be enough to secure that.

As for the Salah incident, it's good to hear that's been resolved. Whether that means the Egyptian will be back in the starting line-up on Sunday, we'll have to wait and see.
