West Ham Fan View: Three things to look out for in the Manchester City clash

West Ham face Premier League leaders Manchester City this Sunday in what is a fixture that greatly worries West Ham fans.

Following the heavy 4-0 defeat to Everton, we may see big changes from David Moyes. Here are three things to look out for…

Are we really facing ‘the invincibles’?

Manchester City’s amazing start to the season has led to some suggesting that they may go undefeated. Their poor defence last season gave hope to many teams but that is not the case this season. Let’s not forget that their attack has also improved significantly with Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, and Kevin De Bruyne tearing defences apart.

But this is not to say that we have no chance of making life difficult for City. Everton were very close to beating them, only to concede in the 82nd minute. Bournemouth, Huddersfield, and Southampton have all frustrated City and given them a tough game. In each of these games, Manchester City scored in the 97th minute, 84th minute, and 96th minute to gain all three points. Will Moyes adopt a similar game plan and frustrate City?

Will Adrian impress?

Joe Hart is unable to play this Sunday as he is on loan from Manchester City and this may be a blessing for us. Yes, our struggling defence has not helped rebuild his reputation but there is no doubt that he has declined, and more so than I thought when we first signed him.

Hart’s performance against Everton was certainly one to forget. He gave away a penalty and his poor clearance led to Wayne Rooney getting his hat-trick. He has made mistakes like these in many games this season and should Adrian impress on Sunday, he should be given a run in the team.

A repeat of last season’s humiliation?

We faced Manchester City thrice last season and it’s fair to say that we were humiliated, given that 12 goals were conceded and only 1 was scored. They are a far better side this season and we have to be realistic with our expectations going into the game.

City have scored 44 goals in 14 games and we have not won away from home all season. Many Hammers are expecting a loss from this game but it is crucial that we show fight and do not allow Manchester City to score freely.

My prediction? 4-0.
