River Plate fan gets QR code tattooed on his leg

A fan of Argentinian football club River Plate has shown his devotion to club by getting a tattoo linking to a clip showing their goals from their Copa Libertadores match against Boca Juniors.

In the video posted on Twitter, you can see just how it works. The fan has a QR inked onto his leg, scanning that code with your smartphone will take you to video showing the goals as well as the team’s celebrations and trophy lift.

Argentinian fans are known for their passion, but social media was alight with people reacting to this fan’s permanent memento of their win earlier in 2019.

It was the first time the two Buenos Aires teams had met in the final. The match made headlines around the world as the fans clashed ahead of the Superclásico.

The second leg had to be postponed after an attack on the Boca Juniors team bus by River Plate fans. In the end the fans suffered when they relocated the fixture to Madrid, over 6,000 miles away.

But although the tattoo might be around forever, the link it takes you to isn’t. After the clip went viral on social media, fans from the opposing team, Boca Juniors downvoted the video, their attention alerting Youtube that something was amiss.

The streaming platform then took down the video citing copyright issues.
