Referee Stephanie Frappart praised for Super Cup performance on social media
Stephanie Frappart made history when she became the first female referee to take charge of a major men’s European match, officiating the UEFA Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 35-year-old has refereed matches in the third division of men's football in France and officiated in the Women’s World Cup in France this summer.
The official was heavily praised for her performance on social media, despite one contentious decision when she awarded Chelsea a penalty after Adrian appeared to bring down Tammy Abraham in the penalty area.
VAR looked at the decision, but decided the referee hadn’t made an error.
Before the match started, BT Sport mentioned the all-female officiating trio:

Frappart let the game flow and despite being in use, VAR wasn’t called upon in the game to overturn any of the referee’s decisions.
Our referees are top notch. Game flowing, they don't entertain diving players #LIVCHE
