Next Liverpool manager Arne Slot's best player could move to Premier League as transfer lined up

Unless something changes late in the day, Liverpool will be managed by Dutch coach Arne Slot next season. The 45-year-old Feyenoord boss was selected after a rigorous and data-led process conducted by Michael Edwards.

Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen) and Rúben Amorim (Sporting CP) were also among those considered, but Liverpool believes that Slot is the right man for the job. Stylistically, he is fairly similar to Jürgen Klopp, which is a big tick in terms of his suitability.

With Klopp near-impossible to replace, Liverpool and its owner, FSG, has sought to reshape things. Edwards is back involved with FSG again and Richard Hughes will be the Reds' new sporting director. Slot will be a head coach rather than the manager.

But Feyenoord might not only be losing Slot this summer. Having lost the Eredivisie crown to a resurgent PSV this season, the second-placed side in the Netherlands might have to undergo something of a rebuild.

According to The Telegraph, its 23-year-old Mexican striker, Santiago Giménez, could be following Slot to England. Spurs, it reports, are keen to sign the player, who has scored 24 times this season.

Giménez is the only Feyenoord player to have got into double figures in terms of league goals this year. TUDN reports that AC Milan is also keen on him, and that he will cost around $45m (£36m/€42m).

Liverpool.com says: Giménez looks like a very good player and he will almost certainly be linked with a move to Anfield sooner rather than later because of the Slot move. But with number nines already at LIverpool in the form of Darwin Núñez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo, the focus needs to be on a wide player this summer.

If Liverpool wants to add more goals to its forward line (and that always makes sense) then it should come in wide areas. Slot loves a winger and that is where the Reds might be able to improve: by adding to the options that are already there. Núñez isn't always the most clinical and Jota gets a lot of injuries, so having one more option in that department would be no bad thing.
