Mohamed Salah and Alisson lead transfer wishlist and unfortunate Liverpool reality clear
It will come as no surprise to Liverpool fans if Mohamed Salah attracts interest from Saudi Arabia again this summer. He might not be the only Reds star targeted though.
Salah was the subject of a failed $190m (£150m/€175m) bid from Al-Ittihad last summer. Although there was speculation suggesting an even bigger offer would arrive, nothing materialized.
The Saudi Pro League though looks as though it will be back in for the Egyptian this summer. Not only that, but Alisson Becker could attract some interest as well, and the unfortunate reality is that Liverpool may be forced to at the very least sit up and listen.

According to The Guardian, both are among the Premier League players being targeted in the summer as the Pro League looks to increase its profile. Salah is described as an ‘obvious target’, while Alisson is said to be of interest to several Saudi clubs as two of the leading targets in their latest spending spree.
Manchester United duo Casemiro and Raphaël Varane are also touted as potential targets, with the latter confirmed to be leaving the Old Trafford club this summer. The quota for foreign players joining Saudi clubs has been extended from eight to 10 for next season, giving them more freedom to target big names.
The Pro League could also be aided by private businesses investing in clubs. Plans are said to be in place to attract sponsorship for teams not backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Despite his links to Saudi Arabia, and his contract entering its final year this summer, Liverpool is said to be planning for next season with Salah on board. Meanwhile, Alisson’s deal at Anfield runs until 2027, with no indication that the club will look to sell the Brazilian.
However, the riches that Saudi Arabia can offer will most likely at the very least spark some conversations. Both players are now in their 30s and Liverpool is entering a rebuilding phase, albeit one they'll likely want the two stars to be a big part of.
Liverpool.com says: As Liverpool prepares to enter the post-Klopp era, there will be a lot of attention on the business done in the summer transfer window. Arne Slot will no doubt want to put his stamp on his new side, and there’s no telling just how many signings he’ll want in order to do that.
We’ve already seen that it takes some big-money signings in order to compete with Manchester City. Arsenal spent over $253m (£200m/€233m) on signings last summer, and they still look set to miss out on any trophies this season.
Liverpool doesn’t have the same seemingly bottomless well of money to draw from that City has, so if Saudi Arabia comes calling again this summer, it might prove very difficult to turn down bids this time, especially if they’re higher than what was offered for Salah last summer.
Still, the fact remains that Salah is still the Reds’ best attacker, and it seems Liverpool is still making plans for next season with him in mind. As for Alisson, that surely has to be a complete non-starter. After all, how on earth do you replace the world’s best goalkeeper?
