Liverpool: Valencia issued an update on Giorgi Mamardashvili future amid transfer links

Valencia have issued an update on Liverpool's pursuit of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Reds are reportedly interested in the goalkeeper, who has previously been linked with Chelsea and Newcastle and impressed at the recent Euro 2024 with Georgia.

Liverpool are said to be exploring a £35million deal for Mamardashvilli, which would see him go out on loan for at least one season before replacing current Reds shot-stopper Alisson Becker as first-choice.

However, with less than 24 hours to go until Liverpool kick off their new season on Saturday with manager Arne Slot in charge, there has been no further progress on a possible move.

Valencia head coach Ruben Baraja told reporters: "As of today, Mamardashvili is a Valencia player and he is fully focused on the next game. This is the current situation for that story."

New manager Slot has so far failed to add to his squad during his first transfer window at the helm.
