Jake Paul's coach makes honest Mike Tyson admission ahead of Netflix bout
Jake Paul's fight with Mike Tyson later this month will see a three-and-a-half year plan come to fruition. The YouTuber turned boxer takes on one of the sport's most iconic fighters and a heavyweight legend.
Despite being full of confidence heading into the bout, Paul has shared a clip on his Instagram page of the idea first coming to light - a conversation between himself long-time coach and friend J'Leon Love. The former super middleweight world title contender warned Paul against the idea and yet, it's a fight that'll take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on November 15 - exclusively on Netflix.
The video, which Paul dates back to 2021 in the build-up to his fight with MMA star Ben Askeren, sees the YouTuber dub the prospect of fighting Tyson a hilarious idea. But it's now one that'll become a reality.

“I just came up with a crazy idea,” Paul says. “Do you think I could beat Mike Tyson?” Love can be seen laughing before giving his fighter a frank response, saying: “F*** no.”
Paul questions the response of his trainer and says: “Like not even a year from now?” However, Love, a former boxer himself claimed that there were levels to Tyson's game, responding: “Mike Tyson just got s*** he know how to do bro that’s just, like…”
Paul responds with Tyson is “a dog”, before adding: “I was just thinking, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson? That would be hilarious.”
The 27-year-old influencer, who was beaten by Tommy Fury back in 2017, has beaten a number of MMA stars, past and present during his relatively young boxing career. After the defeat to Fury, he defeated Nate Diaz, then Andre August, Ryan Bourland and Mike Perry in his most recent bout.
Paul has defeated a number of seasoned fighters, but Tyson is a different prospect all together and it's a match-up that his mother is scared about.
Speaking to Bloody Elbow at a PFL media event, earlier this year, Paul said: “She will be there but my mom is very scared actually. Like, she keeps on asking me if I’m ready, asking my team if I’m ready.
"She’s not liking this one, to be honest. He just looks scary and big, and his Instagram videos on the mitts look crazy and everything, so I get it.”
