Jürgen Klopp just gave another reminder of exactly what Arne Slot needs to do at Liverpool

From his first moment until his last, Jürgen Klopp's aura demanded the focus of the room. The Liverpool boss has said many times this week that he doesn't like being the center of attention, but when you are like the German, it's impossible to avoid.

In October 2015, Klopp was presented as Brendan Rodgers' replacement in a press conference that contained many lines easy to remember even nearly nine years on. The Normal One, as he termed himself, instantly had everyone's full focus.

Those who were in the room at the time described a coach who was ultra-assured and more than aware of the challenge that lay ahead. It didn't take long to work out that he was perfect for Liverpool.

"He strode into Anfield with an energy the stadium had not seen in a while; tanned, smiling, full of charisma," former Liverpool.com editor, Kristian Walsh, who was in attendance at his unveiling, wrote in a piece to remember the occasion by a few years later. "In terms of a first impression, it was strong; a home run on your first strike, a touchdown with your first drive up the field."

On Friday, a group of journalists — changed, though many of the same faces among them — hung onto his every word for the final time. Klopp presented them with a gift of thanks at the end of an era (though he will see many again post-match on Sunday).

It is obvious, of course, that Arne Slot faces some task to be as perfectly suited to Liverpool as Klopp. He also comes from a club with less standing in the European game (Klopp had won the Bundesliga and reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund).

For all that the logic behind appointing Slot adds up the more you read about him — the way of playing, the character, the charisma, and the emphasis on youth — there is one intangible that you can't measure until the job is underway. How Slot deals with the step up in the size of the club and the pressures that come with that will be vital.

He will be judged from the very first moment until the very last, as Klopp has proven. What he says in his first press conference will, inevitably, be compared to how Klopp came across. That doesn't mean he should be writing pre-prepared messages or soundbites, but a strong first impression counts. That will continue until the day he leaves.

Clearly, what happens on the pitch is what matters the most. Slot can have no media presence at all and say almost what he likes as long as his team is winning — though the signs suggest that he will be capable of delivering a few good moments.

"Feyenoord fans love to watch his press conferences," Feyenoord fan Wesley van Oevelen from the Kein Geloel podcast told Liverpool.com last week. "I always say as a joke on our podcast that I watch with popcorn and open a beer, enjoying the show.

"People won't forget about Klopp, but what Klopp has built, Slot can build further on that with his playing style and his aura. He is a very good manager to follow in Klopp's footsteps."

Slot will need to set off on the right foot when he takes his first press conference. Matching Klopp's for impact will be near-impossible, but that has to be the aim. As the German has proved this week, you're under scrutiny from the very beginning until the very end at Liverpool, but if you're authentic and honest, that goes a long way.
