Britain's worst football team ends 73-game winless streak on historic night

Britain’s worst football team has ended an 840-day winless streak.

After waiting 73 games for the sweet taste of victory, Scottish side Fort William beat Nairn County 5-2 in the North of Scotland Cup.

After a run of four long seasons without a win, including the last Highlands League campaign when they finished with a minus 221 goal difference, Fort William finally earned a win.

Jack Brown, Roddy Kennedy, Harry Nicolson, Donald Morrison and an own goal were on the scoresheet on an historic night at Claggan Park.

The club’s account tweeted: “Unbelievable stuff.

"A great night at Claggan Park tonight. An unbelievable feeling. We would like to thank everyone who came along to Claggan Park tonight.

"And we would like to thank everyone online, around the world who have celebrated with us. Your support doesn't go unnoticed."

Scottish Premier League support

Clubs in the Scottish Football League were keen to express their support for Fort William.

Premier League side Livingston and Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle both tweeted their congratulations.
