Australia v Bangladesh: David Warner floored after ball hits opener in groin

Bangladesh had to resort to unique measures to stop a rampant David Warner at Trent Bridge.

Australia’s villain of the summer was floored after a sharp delivery by Rubel Hossain.

Looking to play off the back foot, Warner contrived to play on - into his own groin.

It left the 32-year-old aggressive opener grounded, fortunately avoiding hitting his own wicket.

But it still marked a triumphant knock by the bullish New South Welshman.

Warner became the first-ever batsman to score 150+ scores in multiple World Cup matches.

In the process, after a steady start - his century took 110 balls - he scored 166 runs off 147 balls.

And he was in honest mood at the innings’ end.

He told media: "I felt a little bit bogged down there and again frustrated. I managed to hang in there and build a good partnership with Finchy and Uzi (Khawaja) as well.

“When you're deep into your innings you're a bit fatigued. I was just trying to give our fast bowlers as many runs as possible to come out and start well. We're just trying to make up for that year.

“Coming out here I hit a lot of fielders. I did it last game as well. I think the wicket was a tad on the slower side.

“We capitalised at the back end. We need to come out and bowl well, try and take some wickets in the powerplay and then build some pressure."
