Arne Slot makes Liverpool promise and Feyenoord admission as another hint dropped on appointment
Arne Slot has promised to watch Liverpool’s game against Aston Villa this evening as he looks to have confirmed he’s into his final week with Feyenoord.
The 45-year-old is expected to succeed Jürgen Klopp as the Reds’ new boss. With less than a week to go now in both the Premier League and Eredivisie, confirmation of the appointment may not be too far away now.
Slot guided his current side to another win on Sunday as Feyenoord continue to finish the season strongly. An 87th-minute goal from Ayase Ueda secured a 3-2 win over NEC, meaning the Rotterdam side has lost just one of its last 25 games.

Feyenoord faces Excelsior in its final game of the season, and Slot looks as though he has confirmed it will be his final game in charge of the club. After the win over NEC, the Dutchman was asked about his final week at the helm.
"Yes I am really going to miss it, that is clear," Slot said (via Anything Liverpool).
And it didn’t take long for the subject of his next job to be brought up. Asked whether he would be watching Liverpool in action at Villa this evening, Slot was somewhat coy with his response.
"If there are Premier League games on, then I will watch it," he responded. Considering Liverpool’s game at Villa is the only Premier League match on this evening, it’s a pretty safe bet that Slot will be tuning in to see the Reds.
Asked before Sunday’s game about his impending move to Anfield, Slot said: "I say almost every time: it will be a matter of days. I expect the same now.
"Things like this take a bit more than going to the shop with a shopping list and ticking off the groceries. These are things that have to be timed properly and everything has to be worked out.
"There are sometimes some things attached to that as well. So that combination of factors means it hasn’t been communicated yet. But don’t worry, that will undoubtedly happen.”
Liverpool.com says: Slot hasn’t done a great job of disguising the fact he’ll be watching Liverpool this evening. After all, it’s the only Premier League game on tonight!
It just looks to be a matter of when, not if, he is confirmed as the new Liverpool boss. Confirmation may well come once the season is over, and plans can begin for the new era at Anfield.
