Arne Slot confirms he will replace Jürgen Klopp two days before his Liverpool farewell
Arne Slot has confirmed he will take over as Liverpool's head coach next season. The Dutch boss has been the favorite to replace Jürgen Klopp and has revealed he is heading for Anfield.
Slot's appointment has been imminent for weeks after Liverpool and Feyenoord reached an agreement over a compensation package for the Dutchman's services. He has made no secret of his desire to replace Klopp in recent weeks.
The Eredivisie season will also end on Sunday when Feyenoord hosts Excelsior and there will be an emotional farewell in Rotterdam, as well as at Anfield.

How Liverpool players said goodbye to Jürgen Klopp and moment he burst into tears
Feyenoord confirmed Slot would be leaving on social media on Friday. A montage clip of his tenure was posted, with the caption: "The Arne Slot era is coming to an end. Let's enjoy the last moments."
A short message also featured in the video, which read: "We have made the best memories, let's enjoy the last one." Slot confirmed he will be leaving the club when he faced the media on Friday afternoon.
“I can confirm that I will become the trainer there next season," he said. His comments come after journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the 45-year-old will officially sign his contract with Liverpool on Friday.
Slot added: "“The fact that you know that it is coming, that helps to do it in a nice way, both from the club to me and from me to the people I have worked with. If you leave in the middle of the season, then perhaps the personal issue will come out of nowhere.
“People may still think that the process works like this, that first the clubs are informed and then the coaches or players are informed, but the process does not work like that. If you abruptly leave during the season, it is a different farewell than the end of the season, when everyone has seen it coming for weeks. It is the same for me at Liverpool."
Liverpool.com says: It has been the worst kept secret in football that Slot would be appointed as Liverpool's next head coach. Both he and Klopp will bid farewell on Sunday before focus shifts to next season and beyond. He will need to hit the ground running as he replaces one of the greatest to ever do it in the Premier League.
