Adebayo Akinfenwa has told ‘The 32’ that we can’t call this the best World Cup ever quite yet – but it’s on course to take the title.

Striker Bayo was the special guest on Sunday’s Yahoo Sport daily World Cup show and he had a lot to say about what he called a “magical” tournament so far.

As officially the stronger player on the planet, the former AFC Wimbledon striker’s words carry weight.

On Sunday morning’s show he said he’s surprised the often cagey knock-out stages have begun with such a bang.

“It’s been incredible, I’m loving every minute of it so far,” said Wycombe’s big forward, who tipped Belgium to win it in Russia.

“It may be the best World Cup – the reason I do like it so much is because of the unexpected. You are seeing shock results and surprises.

“The two best players have gone out, holds Germany have gone out, and last year’s finalists have gone out – so have the European champions.

“We’ll see how it ends to see if it’s the best ever. if England win then it is the best!”
