Guy Ritchie on 'making it up on the day' with Jason Statham for 'Wrath of Man' (exclusive)

After returning to his British crime movie routes with 2019 release The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie has now joined forces with old buddy Jason Statham for Wrath of Man.

Loosely adapting the 2004 French thriller Cash Truck — and launching exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 10 December — Ritchie's film tells a multi-stranded and nonlinear crime story focused on Statham's mysterious security guard.

It marks the first time Ritchie has directed Statham since they made 2005 crime tale Revolver together.

In Wrath of Man, Statham's character becomes known as H — no relation to Line of Duty's criminal mastermind, as far as we know — when he applies for a role at a company responsible for transporting valuable cargo in armoured trucks.

After passing tests with the bare minimum success, wows his new employers with his surprising expertise in violent conflict.

The rest of the cast includes Mindhunter star Holt McCallany, Scott Eastwood, Josh Hartnett, Niamh Algar and Eddie Marsan.

In our exclusive interview above, Ritchie tells Yahoo Entertainment UK about his freewheeling approach to both action and drama, as well as his working relationship with Statham.

He also discusses his upcoming project with Statham and Aubrey Plaza and reveals why he doesn't think he's the right person to tell the story of the England football team's Euro 2020 success this summer.

Wrath of Man will be released in the UK via Amazon Prime Video from 10 December.
