What to watch: The best movies new to streaming from Babylon to They Cloned Tyrone
Wondering what to watch? As the summer holiday season kicks off in the UK, several exciting new films are coming to streaming services for the public to enjoy.
There might be big hitters like Barbie and Oppenheimer being released in cinemas this weekend, but some people may prefer to watch films in the comfort of their own home.
Netflix, Sky, and horror streamer Shudder will launch new films on their respective platforms ranging from sharp-witted sci-fi films, to Oscar-worthy dramas, to intriguing documentaries.
Without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the films released this week.
Armageddon Time | Sky Cinema and NOW (Pick of the week)
Acclaimed filmmaker James Gray explored his childhood experiences in Armageddon Time, a drama based on his own life that told the story of family and the pursuit of the American dream.
The film stars an incredible cast including Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Strong and Anne Hathaway, and it is described as a touching coming-of-age story.
They Cloned Tyrone | Netflix
Starring Jamie Foxx, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris, They Cloned Tyrone is shaping up to be a fun sci-fi caper that imagines a world where cloning exists.
Unfortunately for the titular Tyrone (played by John Boyega), he is the one that has been cloned and so Foxx's Slick Charlie and Parris' Yo-Yo must investigate what happened and why so they can fix things.

A mix of the sci-fi/horror/comedy/blaxploitation genres, the film features a stellar central cast and will be sure to entertain Netflix subscribers.
Babylon | Sky Cinema and NOW
Damien Chazelle returned to the Golden Age of Hollywood for his film Babylon, which is a wild ride starring Barbie's Margot Robbie.
The film charts the rise and fall of several stars when the film industry moved from silent films to sound in the 1920s, a groundbreaking moment in cinematic history.
At the centre of it is self-proclaimed star Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie), whose story is told through the eyes of Mexican immigrant Manuel "Manny" Torres (Diego Calva).
Sharksploitation | Shudder
When Steven Spielberg's Jaws was first released everyone was in awe of the film's terrifying sea creature, thus birthing a new subgenre of film: shark movies.
Directed by Stephen Scarlata, the documentary explores the phenomenon from its origins to where the genre stands now with filmmakers, critics and scholars sharing how it came to be and why it continues to have such a strong legacy.
