What to watch: Best movies new to streaming from Scream VI to The Little Mermaid
Disney+ and Sky have released new films for fans to enjoy
Wondering what to watch? This week has seen a number of new films come to streamers such as new family favourites and horror hits ahead of the spooky season.
Disney+ brought its newest live-action remake to its platform (along with a limited time price cut), while Sky and NOW is bringing two very different movies that film fans will enjoy.
Here is Yahoo's guide to the best new movies to watch this week.
The Little Mermaid | Disney+ (pick of the week)
Dive into the magical world of The Little Mermaid, Disney's classic has been revamped for a modern audience and unlike past attempts to adapt a classic animation for live-action this one works well.
Starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, the musical follows the mermaid as she makes a deal with witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) to become a human and see Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) again only to have to lose her voice and need to find a way to get it back.
Scream VI | Sky Cinema and NOW
The horror never stops, not for the characters in the Scream franchise at least. Ghostface is back for a sixth time around and he's targeting all of the people who got away from him in the past.
Starring Courtney Cox, Jenna Ortega, and Hayden Pannetiere, the film takes the story to New York City where the characters will have to use all of their wits to survive the terror that haunts them.
Sharp Stick | Sky Cinema and NOW
Lena Dunham steps into the director's chair for a coming-of-age story about a young woman, Sarah Jo (Kristine Froseth), having a sexual awakening when she takes a job as a babysitter for Josh (Jon Bernthal) and his wife Heather (Dunham), with Sarah Jo and Josh embarking on an affair.
