‘Watchmen’s’ Damon Lindelof wants to work with Marvel now that they’re getting ‘experimental’
Damon Lindelof has registered his interest in working within the Marvel Universe in the very near future, especially since their upcoming movies and television shows are getting more and more experimental.
The Watchmen showrunner made this admission to Fandom after being quizzed about his decision not to return for a second season of the critically acclaimed HBO show.

After being asked whether he would like to work with a major franchise in the near future, the Prometheus and Star Trek Into Darkness writer responded, “I think that doing something in the Marvel universe, anywhere in the Marvel Universe, would be really potentially exciting for me, especially as they start to get a little bit more experimental.”
Lindelof isn’t interested in working on a Marvel movie, though, as he specifically mentioned that he would be interested in collaborating on one of their television shows for Disney+. “Some of the things thatI’ve seen for ‘WandaVision,’ for example, just feel like, ‘Okay, now we’re getting somewhere.’ Particularly in a television space.”
This isn’t the first time that Lindelof has shown his allegiance to Marvel. In fact, during his discussion with Variety back in October, Lindelof defended the studio against legendary director Martin Scorsese’s attacks on the MCU, which saw him say that their movies aren’t cinema.

"I’m just curious as to how many Marvel movies he has seen. I don’t view it as a put down. I think there has to be space for popular entertainment and indie fare and cinema,” remarked Lindelof.
“There’s a space in Marvel movies that they are beginning to explore and are beginning to be provocative and interesting. Logan or Black Panther are very close in my opinion to cinema and to put all Marvel movies in the same box doesn’t seem fair."
