Tom Holland has spoken about his role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film, likening his experience to his role as Spider-Man.

Holland's involvement in Nolan's follow-up to the acclaimed Oppenheimer was announced earlier this week, with the actor set to appear alongside Matt Damon in the currently untitled project.

Though there are no concrete details on the mystery film, Holland appeared on Good Morning America to recall how he secured the part, sharing that he felt the same excitement as he did when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Parker.

"When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime," said Holland (via GamesRadar). "[It was] reminiscent of getting that call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It's an amazing thing for me. I'm super proud and I'm really, really excited."

Despite sharing his excitement for the project, Holland remained coy on the nature of the film, adding: "All I can say is that I'm incredibly excited and obviously honoured, but that's all I can say because to be honest that's really all I know."

The only detail that is known about Nolan's upcoming film is the release date, with its theatrical release currently set for July 17, 2026. The film is also said to be playing in IMAX formats, so we can assume that the project will have a substantial budget.

The mystery film will be Nolan's first since Oppenheimer, a biopic of physicist J Robert Oppenheimer which was a resounding critical and commercial success. In addition to its seven Academy Awards - including Best Picture and Best Director - the film grossed $977 million at the box office.

Whilst Holland couldn't offer any details on Nolan's film, he did recently provide an update on a fourth Spider-Man film, sharing: "The idea is crazy. It's a little different to anything we've done before, but I think the fans are going to really respond to it."
