Annabelle Wallis: Tom Cruise doesn't let co-stars run next to him on screen
Tom Cruise’s run is almost as famous as the man himself — the sprint that launched a million memes and supercuts.
But, according to Cruise’s The Mummy co-star Annabelle Wallis, the 58-year-old actor has a rule that makes sure he runs alone on the big screen.

Wallis revealed that Cruise doesn’t like to let his fellow actors run next to him on screen, but he made a special exception for her in the 2017 horror-adventure blockbuster.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I got to run on-screen with him, but he told me no at first.
“He said: ‘nobody runs on-screen [with me],’ and I said: ‘but I’m a really good runner.’
“So, I would time my treadmill so that he’d walk in and see me run. And then he added all these running scenes.“
Wallis played archaeologist Jenny Halsey in the maligned 2017 movie, alongside Cruise’s army sergeant Nick Morton.
The actor quipped that the honour of running alongside Cruise on the silver screen was “better than an Oscar”.

Cruise is a prolific on-screen runner, with a 2018 study revealing that he has legged it more than 24,000 feet during his near-40-year career — the length of 70 football pitches.
Running got him intro trouble while filming Mission: Impossible — Fallout in 2017 when he broke his ankle after misjudging a jump and slamming into the side of a building.
Cruise was hard at work on the seventh Mission: Impossible installment prior to the coronavirus pandemic, but his next project is even more ambitious than those high-octane thrillers.
It’s not clear whether Cruise will be taking his running with him, but he’s off into orbit for the first ever feature formed aboard the International Space Station.

The project is set to be a hefty one, with Cruise reportedly looking at a mammoth £50m cheque for starring in the history-making movie.
If anyone can make running in zero gravity look great, it’s definitely Cruise.
