The New Pennywise In It Remake Looks Terrifying
We’ve finally been granted our first look at the new Pennywise in the impending ‘It’ remake, and as you’d expect the clown is downright terrifying …
Bill Skårsgard has been tasked with taking on The Dancing Clown, who debuted in Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel ‘It’, before being portrayed by Tim Curry for the 1990 ABC mini-series of the same name.
Pennywise is an evil entity that takes the form of a balloon wielding clown. He emerges every twenty-seven years to prey upon and dismember the children of Derry, Maine, and thanks to his ability to shape-shift he is able to feed on their variety of fears.
Bill Skårsgard, who is the son of Stellan and brother of Alexander, was cast in the role after English actor Will Poulter dropped out, and he knows just how daunting a task it will be to emulate Tim Curry’s version.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Skårsgard admitted, “Tim Curry’s performance was truly great, but it’s important for me to do something different because of that. I’ll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.”
In his task to match Curry’s version, 25-year-old Bill Skårsgard, whose version is decidedly younger than Curry’s, who was 44 when ‘It’ was released, has received assistance from director Andres Muschietti on ‘It’.
The Argentinian filmmaker replaced Cary Fukunaga in the position, while Jaeden Lieberher will play Bill Denbrough the leader of the Losers’ Club that vows to take on the monster after his brother goes missing.
We’ll get to see if the new version of both Pennywise and ‘It’ can match up to the original when it’s finally released on September 8, 2017.
