The Conjuring 2 Pulled From French Cinemas Following Riots
French cinema chains are pulling ‘The Conjuring 2′ from their schedules following outbreaks of disruptive behaviour across the country.
La Parisien reports a number of incidents from showings of James Wan’s horror sequel across France including one “altercation” at the MK2 Bastille cinema that ended with a huge fight.
A brawl is said to have erupted there after one group annoyed the auditorium by “screaming at the slightest movement” on screen. With staff unwilling or unavailable to intervene, one audience member had to resort to fisticuffs to settle the matter.
Mon dieu! Have they not read Wittertainment’s Code of Conduct?
The UGC cinema chain is not showing the film at all, despite having 400 screens across France, explaining on Twitter it was “an editorial choice” to show less genre pieces.
‘Annabelle’, the spin-off of the first ‘Conjuring’ film, also faced similar problems over the Channel in 2014, causing riots when it was released. Multiplex managers swiftly pulled it from schedules “for security reasons”.
“It has become fashionable to come to fool around in front of a horror movie,” film journalist Caroline Vié told 20 Minutes, adding, “there are fewer staff in theatres to ensure the smooth running of meetings.”
‘The Conjuring 2′ - if you promise to behave yourself - is in UK cinemas now.
