Tetris Movie Will Be First Part Of A Trilogy

That’s right – there’s a ‘Tetris’ trilogy coming.

During an interview with Empire Magazine, ‘Tetris’ producer Larry Kasanoff revealed that the rumours were true – ‘Tetris’ is the first part of a sci-fi trilogy.

“That’s correct,” he confirmed, “and purely because the story we conceived is so big. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story.”

Seems like a bit of a low blow at the expense of ‘Harry Potter’ there… but we see his point.

Even if it was made by the man who’s producing a ‘Tetris’ trilogy.

Larry Kasanoff is perhaps most famous for producing the Arnold Schwarzenegger hit, ‘True Lies’ as well as Paul W. S. Anderson’s ‘Mortal Combat’. Perhaps that makes him the perfect producer to bring ‘Tetris’ to the big screen.

But he’s keen to stress that it won’t just involve lots of cartoon blocks running around.

“We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie,” he said. “But it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!”

But what will it be about?

For now, it looks as though that’s being kept under wraps.

“We want the story to be a surprise, but it’s a big science-fiction movie,” he explained. “I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos.”

According to Empire, casting is already underway for a primarily China-led film shoot.

“I guarantee you it’s not what you think,” explained Kasanoff. “No-one has come remotely close to figuring out what we’re doing.”

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
