Super Mario Bros Movie trailer includes iconic Nintendo nods
The Super Mario Bros. Movie has unleashed one final trailer before it hits the big screen next month.
It's a doozy, too, with all shapes and sizes of Nintendo nods bursting out of it, including a fire flower-powered Donkey Kong and a frantic battle on Rainbow Road, which is reminiscent of Thor's Bifröst in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Make sure to look out for a glimpse at Super Mario Odyssey's Sand Kingdom as well.

Co-directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic have assembled a mighty ensemble voice cast here, with Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day as Luigi, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.
One major change from the games will see Luigi, rather than Peach, being captured by Bowser and needing to be rescued. The trailer shows Luigi locked up in a cage.
"[Luigi] takes the Princess Peach role in our story," Horvath recently explained to Total Film. "It’s Mario’s goal to save his brother from Bowser’s clutches. He has to go on this epic adventure to do that."

Horvath also leapt to the defence of the casting of Pratt in the main role in response to backlash from fans, saying: "For us, it made total sense. He's really good at playing a blue-collar hero with a ton of heart.
"For the way that Mario is characterised in our film, he's perfect for it."
Super Mario Bros. Movie comes to cinemas on Friday, April 7 in the UK and on Wednesday, April 5 in the US.
