The Substance has confirmed a streaming release date – and fans won't have long to wait.

The Demi Moore body horror has become one of the most-talked-about movies of the last month following its debut in cinemas.

Streaming service MUBI will now release the film on its platform in the UK, US and more just in time for Halloween on October 31.

The Coralie Fargeat movie follows the story of a fading celebrity (Moore) who takes a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself (Margaret Qualley).

The Substance marked a record for Moore, earning the highest score of a theatrically-released movie in her career on Rotten Tomatoes.

A review by NPR called the project "a towering showcase for Qualley and especially Moore, who might be channeling the abrasive, ever-spiraling spirit of Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest and late-period Bette Davis".

"If Moore’s extraordinary, best-of-career performance doesn’t kick off a full Demi-aissance, there is no God — this riff on The Picture of Dorian Gray goes ballistic in the best possible way," added Rolling Stone.

Meanwhile, Empire wrote: "Feminist scholarship this ain’t; think Showgirls if it were directed by David Cronenberg. But give yourself permission to revel in the excess and be rewarded with an uproariously good time."

The movie won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year following its premiere.

MUBI has released a number of acclaimed movies on its service in the past year, including Josh O'Connor's La Chimera, Cailee Spaeny's Priscilla and Pedro Pascal's Strange Way of Life.

The Substance will be available to stream on MUBI from October 31.
