‘Star Wars' co-writer insists 'The Rise Of Skywalker' will finally answer, ‘Who is Rey?’
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker co-writer Chris Terrio has opened up about the upcoming final installment to the Skywalker saga, insisting that the blockbuster will finally answer the question of, ‘Who is Rey?’
Terrio, who co-wrote The Rise Of Skywalker with director J.J. Abrams and previously won an Oscar for scribing Argo, was recently quizzed by Empire about the key questions that will be approached in the film.

“One of them is a simple one: ‘Who is Rey?’,” Terrio explained. “Which is a question that people not only wonder about quite literally, but wonder about in the spiritual sense. How can Rey become the spiritual heir to the Jedi?”
Terrio admitted that throughout the writing of The Rise Of Skywalker he and Abrams would repeatedly come back to this question, before then considering exactly how they could provide “the most satisfying answer.”
Not just “factually,” as audiences are obsessed with “whether there’s more to be learned of Rey’s story,” but also “more importantly who is she as a character? How will she find the courage and will and inner strength and power to carry on what she's inherited?”
Terrio didn’t stop there, though. He also revealed the other questions that fueled the making of The Rise Of Skywalker are, “What is the Force?,” and, “How strong is the Force?”

The big question now is whether or not audiences will be pleased with Terrio and Abrams’ answers to these questions. As the response to The Last Jedi proved the Star Wars fan-base can be quite hard to please.
We’ll finally get to see what Terrio and Abrams came up with, and if Star Wars fans are happy, when The Rise Of Skywalker is released on December 20, 2019.
