Star Trek Into Darkness fans crash IMAX site
“Overwhelming demand” says cinema.
We bet this didn’t happen for ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’.
Tickets for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ were so in demand that the IMAX website crashed for several hours.
Yesterday the advance box office for JJ Abrams’ sci-fi follow-up went on sale in the UK.
Soon afterwards, the BFI (via twitter) announced that the IMAX website was down due to “overwhelming demand” for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ tickets.

The Odeon site also tweeted that they were having technical difficulties for the same reason.

IMAX cinemas have fallen foul of overeager film fans in the past. Last year Batman fans crashed the websites for IMAX cinemas in Sidney and Melbourne.
