Sigourney Weaver is back as Alien's Ripley on Stephen Colbert


Ellen Ripley is back. And frankly, sooner than anyone expected.

With Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ franchise having gone into origin story territory, could Sigourney Weaver’s character somehow return?

Well, thanks to Stephen Colbert, she already has.

The actress pitched up for a surprise sketch on Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’ over the weekend.

Tussling with Randy, the man in charge of the healthcare provision on the Weyland Yutani Space Station, but who can’t appear to find a Ms Ripley in the system.

A subscriber to ‘Facehugger Fancy’ magazine, he fails to bring up her details, this despite her being ‘the woman who single-handedly saved humanity every five to eight years for the last three decades’.

Turns out getting a chest-bursting alien out of you is trickier than you think in the US healthcare system.

Sir Ridley Scott, the director of the original ‘Alien’ film, is returning for ‘Alien: Covenant’ which arrives in cinemas next month. He recently revealed that he could have six more movies in the ‘Alien’ franchise up his sleeve beyond this sequel to ‘Prometheus’.

‘Alien: Covenant’, meanwhile, is out on May 12.
