Rupert Grint hasn't watched most of the 'Harry Potter' movies

Rupert Grint has admitted to not having seen most of the Harry Potter movies, despite the fact he plays one of the lead roles.

The Ron Weasley actor told Variety that he watched the first three films at the premieres, but then stopped watching his performances.

He added: “But now that I have a daughter, I will probably have to watch them with her.”

Grint’s daughter with Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging star Georgia Groome was born in May 2020, so he likely has a few years to prepare for his return to the Wizarding World.

The baby girl, named Wednesday, helped Grint to break the internet when she was born, causing her dad to amass one million Instagram followers in just four hours — smashing David Attenborough’s record.

Grint was also asked about the Harry Potter series which is currently being developed for HBO Max.

He said he didn’t expect to be involved in the series and said it would be “weird if it was a continuation” of the original movie franchise, adapted from JK Rowling’s seven-book series.

At the same time, Grint isn’t sure about somebody else playing Ron.

“I weirdly feel quite protective of that character,” he added. “Even when I saw the stage shows, it was a very strange experience.

“If [the series features like a different group of friends, I guess it would be interesting.”

Actors including Paul Thornley and Thomas Aldridge have played Ron in various productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Grint is currently promoting his work in the second season of the Apple TV+ psychological thriller Servant, which is the brainchild of suspense maestro M. Night Shyamalan.

The show follows the arrival of a nanny into the home of a couple who have purchased a “reborn doll” in order to help them get over the death of their baby.

Soon after the nanny — played by Game of Thrones actor Nell Tiger Free — arrives, the doll appears to come to life.

Grint plays Julian, brother of Lauren Ambrose’s lead character Dorothy, with Toby Kebbell portraying her husband.

Servant season two is streaming now, with a new episode weekly via Apple TV+.
