Rachel McAdams confirms Ryan Gosling rift on The Notebook (exclusive)
Rachel McAdams, the star of this week’s ‘Doctor Strange’, has addressed the long-standing rumour that she and Ryan Gosling didn’t see eye-to-eye on ‘The Notebook’ despite playing a couple who were madly in love.
“We certainly had intense creative conversations [on ‘The Notebook],” McAdams euphemistically told Yahoo Movies. Those “intense creative conversations” apparently – according to its director Nick Cassavettes – included Gosling demanding another actress to read McAdams’ lines off-camera, and full-on screaming rows between the two stars.
Gosling had been briefly linked with the role of ‘Doctor Strange’ when Marvel was unable to lock down Benedict Cumberbatch for the role, so we asked Rachel whether she’d been dreading a ‘Notebook’ reunion if the ‘Sherlock’ star had pulled out.
“No!”, McAdams emphatically responded, “Not at all, I’d love to work with [Ryan] again. I didn’t know that [he was linked with Doctor Strange]. Benedict was signed on when it came across my plate so he’s the only ever Doctor Strange I’ve known of.”
McAdams plays Christine Palmer in ‘Doctor Strange’, a colleague and former lover of brilliant neurosurgeon Stephen Strange, who must learn to let go of her old friend as he begins his journey to mystical enlightenment.
‘Doctor Strange’ is in UK cinemas now.
