Yahoo Movies Paloma Faith knocks 'sh*t' message behind The Little Mermaid remake
She went to see it with her kids.
Paloma Faith isn't a fan of Disney's latest live-action remake, The Little Mermaid.
Starring Halle Bailey as ocean princess Ariel, who leaves behind her watery home to win the affections of a human prince, this one was praised for retaining "the spirit of the animation while also adding to its heritage" in Yahoo Entertainment UK's review last week.

However, fresh out of the cinema and posting on Instagram Stories, Brit Award-winning popstar Paloma found the movie's central message incredibly problematic.
"Just seen the new Little Mermaid with my kids and while I think Halle gives a good performance and it's great casting as a mother of girls, I don't want my kids to think it's ok to give up your entire voice and your powers to love a man," she wrote.
"Wtf is this sh*t?! Not what I want to be teaching next gen women at all."
Bailey's casting had previously been criticised by racist online trolls.
Addressing the situation in a YouTube video, the young actress said: "Even still today, like with all of the commentary and people's opinions going on, it just reminds me to be number one grounded and grateful that I have this opportunity and the fact that it's sparking such a discussion like this for all of us.

"I mean, I know what it would've meant to me as a little girl to have been able to see a Black Ariel. When I was younger, if I would've seen that, it would have changed my whole outlook on life.
"The little girl inside of me is screaming and freaking out."
The Little Mermaid is out now in cinemas.
