Sporting a new grey hair-do, she joked that “winning an Oscar changes you”.
“Last year was the best night of my husband’s life,” she then revealed. “He actually says that. And I’ve given birth three times.
“So I hope you’re all having as good a time as he did. And I did.”
The Crown star won the Best Actress award last year for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos's black comedy The Favourite.

Phoenix, meanwhile, scored his first ever Oscar, after three previous nominations, for his role as unravelling stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck in Joker.
Though heartfelt, his speech was more serious in nature, admitting that he'd been “cruel” and “a scoundrel” during previous periods of his life, and that he'd been “hard to work with”.
He also went on to discuss problems with inequality, his long-held belief in veganism, inseminating cows and his late brother River Phoenix.
Other winners on the night included Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, whose movie Parasite won Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature.
It's the first time a film not in the English language has won the top Oscar, beating the likes of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino to the prize.
