'Obi-Wan Kenobi' spoilers: All the Easter eggs, shocks and surprises
The Star Wars shows are back on Disney+, as Deborah Chow’s Obi-Wan-Kenobi brings Ewan McGregor’s bearded outcast to our screens for his long-awaited solo series.
Away from the return of McGregor as a younger version of Sir Alec Guinness’ Old Ben, there’s a cast of new and familiar faces to fill in the gaps between George Lucas’ prequel trilogy and where it all began with A New Hope in 1977.
However, it’s over to the newcomers to steal the show, with Moses Ingram's Reva already staking her claim as a villain of epic proportions.
These are the big Easter eggs, cameos and spoilers you need to know from the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi cameos
Alongside our titular Jedi, the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi sees the return of Jimmy Smits and Joel Edgerton as Bail Organa and Owen Lars, as well as the debut of Grant Feely and Vivien Lyra Blair as young Luke and Leia.
Like the trailers had warned, it’s not all blue milk on Tattooine, meaning Obi-Wan Kenobi wasted no time whisking us away from that sandy staple. Much of episode 2 took place on the neon-soaked streets of Daiyu, and here, our Jedi-in-hiding went on the hunt for a young Leia who had been kidnapped from Alderaan.

Although Obi-Wan was originally hesitant to leave his post watching Luke on Tatooine, there was a poignant moment when Smits’ Bail Organa reminded Obi-Wan that Leia is just as important as her brother. It’s some heartwarming foreshadowing for the importance Carrie Fisher’s Leia has in later movies, and in particular, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
It turns out that Leia’s kidnap was the work of Reva, aka the Third Sister. It led to a sneaky cameo from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, who had a brief appearance as a mercenary called Vect — before being promptly sliced by the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend) and his red lightsaber.
Teasing a connection between Obi-Wan and Reva, she is hellbent on tracking him down in the aftermath of Palpatine’s Order 66.
A shocking death in Obi-Wan Kenobi
While Obi-Wan’s debut episodes don’t quite have a jaw-dropping reveal like the arrival of Baby Yoga/Grogu in The Mandalorian premiere, ‘Part II’ still gave a twist that no one saw coming.
The trailers made it look like Reva, the Grand Inquisitor, and the Fifth Brother (Sung Kang) would be a terrifying trio of villains to see us through, but instead, Reva dispatched her boss in gruesome style. Proving that nothing will stand in the way of her mission to kill Obi-Wan, she stabbed the Grand Inquisitor and left him for dead.
Reva turning the Grand Inquisitor into Swiss cheese is a nice idea, but it creates some major problems for Star Wars continuity. Namely, the Grand Inquisitor’s role in Star Wars Rebels— which is set four years after Obi-Wan Kenobi — throws a spanner in the works.

If Star Wars has taught us anything though, it’s that Lucasfilm loves a good fake-out death. Hey, The Book of Boba Fett brought back Boba, Fennec Shand, and Cad Bane from the grave, so who’s to say the Grand Inquisitor won’t be back next week with some cybernetic parts filling the hole in his body?
Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter eggs
Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out that scenes from the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer feature the Grand Inquisitor in the Fortress Inquisitorius, suggesting he’ll be making a miraculous recovery in episode three.
It’s possible that Disney has done some of that notorious trailer misdirection that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is famed for, but most likely, we’ll see the Grand Inquisitor making use of Anakin’s bacta tank.
If this is the case, it’s a real shame that Obi-Wan Kenobi has wasted a potentially major twist and a shock death on a par with Kylo Ren taking out Supreme Leader Snoke in The Last Jedi.

Still, who’s to say the Grand Inquisitor that kicked the bucket is the only one? Star Wars loves cloning as much as a fakeout, and as much was teased about Snoke being a reject Palpatine clone in The Mandalorian season 2.
Speaking of Clones, fans loved another surprise cameo. You didn’t need to see a bedraggled Clone Trooper sitting in the gutter of Daiyu to recognise the gruff vocals of Temuera Morrison.
After joining the galaxy far, far away, as Jango Fett, the star is now known for leading The Book of Boba Fett as the stoic bounty hunter. In Obi-Wan Kenobi, he plays a nondescript Clone Trooper, however, his helmet markings confirm he was part of the famed 501st Legion.
Given the squad’s legacy as Chancellor Palpatine’s personal squadron and one of the last to be made of Jango Fett clones, it’s a sad fall from grace. Despite the 501st’s role in helping execute Order 66, at least Obi-Wan gives this downtrodden vet some credits.
Even if the first episode of Obi-Wan did the legwork in terms of world-building, it was ‘Part II’ that catapulted the story forward.
Importantly, Reva has cemented herself as the show’s surprising big bad instead of a secondary villain. You get a real sense of this when she gloats over Obi-Wan with the galaxy-shattering reveal that Anakin Skywalker is still alive and now going under the guise of Darth Vader.
With plenty of speculation the former Master and Padawan will be crossing sabers again before the final credits roll, we could be on a cusp of a battle that will make their Mustafar duel look like podracing.
The question is, who will get the high ground this time?
The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are streaming on Disney+ now. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays.
