Mysterious new Sony Marvel movie confirmed for 2021
We'll be getting a new Marvel movie from Sony next year, according to reports, but its identity currently remains a mystery.
The news comes from the Exhibitor Relations Co Twitter account (and confirmed by IGN), run by box office analyst Jeff Bock.
He tweeted yesterday: “Sony's web continues to grow. UNTITLED SONY/MARVEL pic now set for Oct. 8, 2021.”

Now to let the speculation online run wild, with various theories as to what the new movie might be.
For background, Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man universe from Marvel, while Disney's Marvel Studios takes care of the Avengers side of things.

However, the two studios collaborated for the last two Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 and Spider-Man: Far From Home last year, both of which were set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There's now a separate strand from Sony, with the Venom movies – the second of which is filming now with Andy Serkis behind the camera and Tom Hardy back as Eddie Brock/Venom – and the soon to be released Morbius, with Jared Leto.
The trailer for the latter featured a brief reveal of Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes – aka Vulture – from Spider-Man: Homecoming, while in Venom we shall have new villain Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson, all of which hints at a larger world of Marvel heroes beginning to emerge at Sony.
Other rumoured possibilities are a Silver Sable or Sinister Six movie in the offing, though with a release date of 2021, we might expect some kind of announcement soon.
Kraven The Hunter is another possibility doing the rounds, with Homecoming director Jon Watts having floated a possible movie in the past.
In the comics, Kraven - aka Sergei Kravinoff - is a maniacal big game hunter, who hunts down Spider-Man for sport.
As for Spider-Man himself, Far From Home was left on a colossal cliffhanger, with Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio revealing the identity of the friendly neighbourhood webslinger to the world.
The third movie, with Tom Holland back in the lycra, is set for release in July, 2021, while Morbius lands on July 31.
