Miley Cyrus's secret cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 revealed
We didn’t realise James Gunn was a Miley Cyrus fan, but it seems that the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ helmsman can’t get enough.
Speaking to Buzzfeed, he revealed that it was during her tenure as a judge on TV talent show ‘The Voice’ that he first realised he had to give her a cameo in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
And so he did.
“I was admiring the tone of Miley Cyrus’s voice,” he explained.
“I find her funny and likable and sweet. I liked that she cared about the contestants. So I was like, I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice. So we contacted her, and she said yes.”
“She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with.”
The controversial popstar appears in one of the movie’s many post-credits scenes, some of which are intended to set up the action for future movies.
She provides the voice for Mainframe, an android from the ‘A-Next’ group, a superhero team linked to The Avengers in the Marvel universe.
Asked if this could be opening the door for further superhero-based screen work, he went on: “She knows that there’s a chance that character may go on and become a bigger thing.
“That’s a possibility.”
Gunn is now officially signed up to direct a third movie in the series. So we’re sure she’ll be waiting by the phone, once she reads the scorching reviews for this second instalment.
It’s due out in the UK on April 28.
