Megan Fox says she was not 'preyed upon' by Michael Bay after old interview goes viral

Megan Fox has clarified that she was never 'assaulted or preyed upon' by director Michael Bay or Steven Spielberg after an interview from 2009 went viral.

The interview, with US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, has resurfaced in the past, but has been shared thousands of times on Twitter over the past few days.

In it, Fox reveals that at the age of 15, she appeared as an extra in the movie Bad Boys II, directed by Bay.

Because she was underage, she was not allowed to be filmed at the bar in a nightclub scene, so instead, Bay had her filmed dancing in a bikini under a waterfall.

Fox later worked with Bay in two of the Transformers movie series, for which it has long been claimed that Bay made her wash his car during her audition.

However, after outrage began brewing over her treatment in both projects, the latter produced by Spielberg, the actress has sought to clarify what happened on set.

Taking to Instagram, she said: “While I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support, I do feel I need to clarify some of the details as they have been lost in the retelling of the events and cast a sinister shadow that doesn’t really, in my opinion, belong. At least not where it’s currently being projected.”

Fox goes on to explain that she was 19 or 20 when she auditioned for Transformers, and says that she was not made to clean Bay's car.

“I did 'work' (me pretending to know how to hold a wrench) on one of Michael's Ferraris during one of the audition scenes. It was at the Platinum Dunes studio parking lot, there were several other crew members and employees present and I was at no point undressed or anything similar,” she writes.

“So far as this audition particular story I was not underaged at the time and I was not made to 'wash' or work on someone's car in a way that was extraneous from the material in the actual script.”

She went on to add: “Please hear me when I thank you for your support, but these specific instances were inconsequential in a long and arduous journey along which I have endured some genuinely harrowing experiences in a ruthlessly misogynistic industry.”

Fox was said to have eventually fallen foul of Bay, and after comments she made comparing Bay's tyranical on-set persona to that of Adolf Hitler, she did not appear as planned in the third Transformers movie, Dark of the Moon.

Bay later said in an interview that after the Hitler comment, Spielberg insisted she was fired, however, Spielberg has since disputed this.
