McConaughey for 'Interstellar'?

According to 'Deadline.com' Christopher Nolan has approached 'Magic Mike' and 'Paperboy' star Matthew McConaughey to be the leading man in his forthcoming science fiction epic, 'Interstellar.'

McConaughey has been offered the role of Cooper, the leading character in the film, which is based on the theories of Caltech physicist and relativity expert Kip S. Thorne.

The film was originally thought up by Steven Spielberg who became fascinated by Thorne's theories about the use of wormholes in space for travelling vast distances.

The script has been developed by Christopher Nolan's brother Jonah, who previously collaborated with him on 'Memento', 'The Prestige' and also two of the Batman franchise films. The original script has apparently been combined with an original idea from the director.

The story is described as depicting ''a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding."
