'The Mandalorian' fans call for Gina Carano to be sacked after anti-mask tweets
Fans of Disney's Star Wars spin-off show The Mandalorian are demanding actor Gina Carano be fired, after a series of tweets in which she mocked mask-wearing during the pandemic.
The former mixed martial arts star plays mercenary Cara Dune in the series, and has been hailed as a feminist role model for the show.
However, in a series of tweets sent this week, she has ridiculed the use of masks and face coverings.

Carano is among the few Hollywood stars openly questioning the validity of the votes cast in the US presidential election, in which Joe Biden received sufficient electoral college votes in order to become the president-elect, beating Donald Trump.

In a tweet sent on 5 November, two days after the US went to the polls, she called for protection against voter fraud and to 'fix the system', despite no evidence so far being upheld to support outgoing president Donald Trump's claims of widespread malfeasance.
We need to clean up the election process so we are not left feeling the way we do today.
Put laws in place that protect us against voter fraud.
Investigate every state.
Film the counting.
Flush out the fake votes.
Require ID.
Make Voter Fraud end in 2020.
Fix the system. 🇺🇸— Gina Carano 🕯 (@ginacarano) November 5, 2020
Carano has also liked a number of tweets which have demonised protestors in Washington DC, and also joined Parler, the controversial social media platform that has been linked to spreading far-right conspiracy theories and has become a haven for those banned from Twitter.

Many have now taken to Twitter to criticise both her and Disney employing her on The Mandalorian, using the #FireGinaCarano.
Gina Carano actively promotes hateful, bigoted views, has tweeted misinformation +conspiracies about the American election, doesn't support wearing masks/treats COVID like a hoax, liked tweets about shooting protesters... this woman is not part of the Rebellion #FireGinaCarano pic.twitter.com/4u52pqI3vo

It’s really disgusting how John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran were viciously attacked by racist and sexist people, resulting in reduced roles and zero support from Disney, and Gina Carano gets a major role while associating herself with those very same people. #FireGinaCarano

They fired James Gunn for jokes but she still had a job after all the crap on her timeline? Asking people to join Parler which is just a bunch of Right wing racists on there #FireGinaCarano @Disney https://t.co/ekQ91bt9ZW
