Film fests snub Lindsay Lohan film for 'significant quality issues'

SXSW has become the latest festival to reject Lindsay Lohan's new film 'The Canyons'.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, an insider at the event said that the film was not accepted into the programme for the annual music and film event in Austin, Texas, because of 'significant quality issues'.

The insider added, damningly, 'It’s got an ugliness and a deadness to it'.

The explicit erotic thriller was also rejected by Robert Redford's Sundance festival, which is currently going on in Park City, Utah.

Starring Lohan alongside porn actor James Deen, with the script penned by 'American Psycho' writer Bret Easton Ellis and directed by 'Raging Bull' and 'Taxi Driver' writer Paul Schrader, the film has been beset by bad press.

As well as its peculiar b-movie trailers confounding the film world, a piece in the New York Times recently lifted the lid on a chaotic production.

She also reportedly earned just $100-a-day for film, but will get a share of the profits.

The film will follow her critically mauled performance as Elizabeth Taylor in the biopic 'Liz and Dick'  released last year.
