The Holiday 2 rumour debunked by Kate Winslet and director
Kate Winslet and director Nancy Meyers have dashed the hopes of The Holiday fans by debunking the rumour of a sequel being in the pipeline.
Winslet starred with Jude Law, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black in the 2006 Christmas rom com about two single women who arrange a house swap for the festive season and end up finding love on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
Speculation that a follow-up film was in the works began circulating on social media after writer-director Meyers shared a video of Hans Zimmer’s The Holiday score being played by a live orchestra in London.
On 5 December, The Sun ran a report that claimed: “The plan is to start filming next year. The main talent are all signed up.”

But Winslet told People: "I read something about that, but it's the first I've heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that's never come up."
And now Meyers has added: "So many DM’s about this - sorry but it’s not true."
Despite mixed reviews from critics The Holiday was a box office smash hit, grossing $205m worldwide (£168m).
Winslet played British journalist Iris and Diaz played US movie producer Amanda, who both find themselves heartbroken right before Christmas and decide to escape the seasonal formalities by swapping homes to spend the holidays alone and away from it all.
Iris then falls for Jack Black, cast in a departure from his usual characters as film composer Miles.
Meanwhile, Amanda finds love with Iris's book editor brother Graham, played by Law.
The film was embraced for its chocolate box portray of English country cottage life and Christmas cheer, and has become a seasonal classic for many.
Diaz, 49, took a break from acting in 2014 and has been focusing on a business career, investing in health start-ups.
She married rocker Benji Madden in 43, in 2015 and the couple share two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Raddix Madden, born via a surrogate.
