'Jurassic World' animated spin-off series 'Camp Cretaceous' to take a bite out of Netflix
A new animated series set in the same universe as Jurassic World is set to debut on Netflix next year.
Camp Cretaceous will take place within the same time period as the 2015 blockbuster, which reinvigorated the Jurassic Park franchise 14 years after Jurassic Park III.

The action unfolds parallel to that film’s narrative, following a group of six teenagers who are trapped on Isla Nublar as dinosaurs run riot all over the island.
They are there as part of a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” that puts them on the opposite side of the island to the main park, isolated from the terror that’s unfolding until the danger becomes very severe.
The series is being produced by DreamWorks Animation, with Steven Spielberg and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow among the executive producers.
Camp Cretaceous is the latest manifestation of a long-running deal between DreamWorks and Netflix that has led to shows including The Boss Baby: Back in Business and Guillermo del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia.
Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) will serve as showrunners for the new programme.

It’s part of the increasing widening of the Jurassic Park franchise, with Bryce Dallas Howard recently teasing that the stars of the original 1993 movie may return for the third entry in the new Jurassic World trilogy.
Colin Trevorrow is set to return to the director’s chair for that film, having ceded control of 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to JA Bayona.
Fallen Kingdom made $1.3bn (£1bn) at the global box office, overcoming mixed reviews - its Rotten Tomatoes score is a ‘rotten’ 47% - to make a sequel a certainty.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is set to debut on Netflix in 2020, but no specific airdate has yet been announced.
