John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt head into the sunset as filming wraps on 'A Quiet Place 2'

A Quiet Place: Part II has wrapped filming, and to mark the occasion, director John Krasinski has posted a shot of he and his leading lady/wife Emily Blunt heading off into the sunset.

“Well… that’s a wrap on #PartII See you on March 20th!” he captioned.

The first movie – Kransinki's directorial debut and produced by Michael Bay – was a solid hit, a high concept post-apocalyptic alien movie made on a tiny $17 million budget which then grossed Paramount Pictures $340 million.

It also got a second wind on streaming platforms too, with the studio announcing a sequel would be in the offing just a few weeks after its release.

The movie introduced the Abbott family, living in a world of silence, using sign language to communicate due to the hyper-sensitive hearing of sightless alien creatures which stalk the land.

Plot details of the second movie are scarce, but – SPOILERS AHEAD – it's not likely we'll see much of Krasinksi's Lee Abbott, who sacrifices himself to save his family.

Speaking about the sequel to Deadline earlier this year, Krasinski said: “The idea for it is pretty simple. I’m writing now — I don’t have it fleshed out — but the thought that occurred to me, that really excited me about it, was that most sequels are about the return of a hero or a villain.

“You take this character that people loved once and you bring them back, and you have to create a new world around them. We have the exact opposite setup. We have the world, and you can drop whoever you want into that world and everyone feels connected to it.”

Cast for Part II, due out in March, 2020, are Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou, with Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe reprising their roles as the Abbott children Marcus and Regan.
