James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe Star In First Victor Frankenstein Trailer
The ‘Frankestein’ story has been filmed hundreds of time since the release of Mary Shelley’s seminal sci-fi work in 1818 with mixed degrees of success.
From the classic Universal horrors featuring Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s cursed creation to 2014′s godawful ‘I, Frankenstein’, each iteration has tried to add something new to the cautionary tale of mad scientists running amok, and it looks like Fox’s upcoming ‘Victor Frankenstein’ will try to reinvent the myth once again.
Check out the first trailer below.
The new twist on the old tale this time around is the elevated role Victor’s manservant Igor plays in the proceedings. Victor’s loyal lackey, played here by a bewigged Daniel Radcliffe must pull his master back from the brink when his creation inevitably runs amok.
Featuring a moody reimagining of ‘Break on Through’ The Doors, this new trailer is definitely promising and we’re just hoping it fares a bit better than last year’s misjudged ‘Dracula Untold’.
Here’s the official synopsis: James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in a dynamic and thrilling twist on a legendary tale. Radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman (Daniel Radcliffe) share a noble vision of aiding humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality.
But Victor’s experiments go too far, and his obsession has horrifying consequences. Only Igor can bring his friend back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation.
Here’s the first official still from the movie too…
‘Victor Frankenstein’ is coming to cinemas on 4 December.
