Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren's London-set thriller is on TV tonight
Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren teamed up in a movie for the first time in 2019's London-set thriller The Good Liar.
Based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Searle, the movie sees an accomplished conman (McKellen) meet a widow on an online dating site. As she seems to be falling for his charms, her son starts to suspect something isn't quite right.
If you fancy giving it a watch (or a rewatch), The Good Liar airs tonight (November 19) at 11.10pm on BBC One.
Don't worry if that's too late to watch a movie on a work night as The Good Liar will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast. Usually movies are added to the streaming service for a month.

Directed by Bill Condon (who has also worked with McKellen on Mr Holmes, among others), the movie also stars Russell Tovey, Jim Carter, Lucian Msamati, Céline Buckens and Phil Dunster.
Back in 2019, Helen Mirren said it was teaming up with Ian McKellen for the first time on screen (they've starred on Broadway together) that was one of the factors in signing up to the thriller.

"It was a combination of my costar Ian McKellen and of course the director, Bill Condon. It’s a very interesting script, a wonderful, twisty thriller that I thought would be fun to do," she told EW.
"It's nice to do a film about old people that's not about Alzheimer's or cancer, if you know what I mean."
