M3GAN, the creepy doll with the killer dance moves, is back for another terrifying tale with a sequel confirmed by horror giants Blumhouse Productions.

The film was a huge hit when it was released in January 2023, and like all good horror movies, fans instantly felt it needed a sequel.

M3GAN (Model 3 Generative Android) is a robotic doll intended to keep lonely children company who gains a sadistic mind of her own and goes on an uncontrollable killing spree, while busting out some iconic dance moves along the way.

A sequel, titled M3GAN 2.0, has been confirmed - here's all we know so far.

Yes, sequel M3GAN 2.0 is currently in post-production, with its release date in cinemas expected to be 27 June, 2025.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions told Variety that he was so sure it would be a hit franchise, he committed to a sequel before the original had even been released.

He said: "After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work. So, we broke our cardinal rule and we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released. I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do."

In the first M3GAN film, robotics engineer Gemma had to take in her young niece Cady after she was orphaned and struggled to find a way of supporting her through her grief with no parenting experience to draw on.

She thought she had found the perfect solution by introducing Cady to her work project M3GAN, a robotic doll that was programmed to protect its child owner.

However, things took a terrifying twist when the doll went a little too literal with her instructions and began a killing spree to protect her young charge, even turning against creator Gemma.

While M3GAN was seemingly destroyed at the end of the film and 2.0 plot details are a closely guarded secret, it seems the murderous doll will get either a revival or a rebooted version in the forthcoming film.

Expect the same star cast back for the sequel - Allison Williams, best known for her role in Girls, will return as Gemma, while Violet McGraw also rejoins the cast as niece Cady.

M3GAN is played by Amie Donald, with Jenna Davis providing her voice again, while Brian Jordan Alvarez returns as Cole. Jemaine Clement also joins the cast in an as-yet-unnamed role.

Despite scant plot details, there is a trailer for M3GAN 2.0 - and a first look suggests it will be every bit as terrifying as the original:
