Helen Mirren Confirms Fast & Furious 8 Role
Helen Mirren has sensationally confirmed that she will indeed have a role in ‘Fast 8′, the eighth instalment to the high-octane, gravity-defying but hugely enjoyable, and profitable, ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.
The Oscar-winning actress made this revelation to Elle while promoting her latest film ‘Eye In The Sky’. After insisting that she likes her work “to be serious” she then added the glorious caveat, “Of course, having said that I’m about to do ‘Fast & Furious 8′.”
She then noted, “But that’s for the fun of it. So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and relevant, serious, important movies.” After being asked if this meant she was “confirmed to be in ‘Fast 8′,” Mirren simply declared, “Yes, I am.”
But Helen Mirren isn’t just there to sit idly by and not get involved in the racing, because she revealed that she only agreed to feature in the blockbuster if she was allowed to drive.
“I’ve always rather loved driving,” Mirren explained. “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.”
Mirren insisted that the reason she decided to join the likes of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Kurt Russell and Jason Statham in ‘Fast 8′ was her love of all different types of movies.
“I love the movies. I love going to the films,” she continued. “I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies-as long as they’re well made and they’ve got good scripts. That’s the most important thing.”
Helen Mirren isn’t the only new addition to the ‘Fast & Furious’ family. ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’s’ Charlize Theron has been brought in as ‘Fast 8’s’ villain, while the wonderfully bearded ‘Game Of Thrones’ actor Kristofer Hivju will be her henchman.
We’ll find out exactly how Mirren mixes into the plot when ‘Fast 8′ is released on April 14, 2017, while you can head over to F Gary Gray’s Instagram account for updates on its production and a closer look at its insane action set pieces.
